Basket weaving is one of the most ancient crafts and it’s showing no signs of dying out. Get a taste for it and you’ll see why! During this five-hour workshop you’ll create a coiled basket using plants from your (or someone else’s!) garden learning elements of the ancient art of basket weaving as you go. You’ll also learn which plants can be used in this process and how to harvest, dry and store them.
Your teacher for the day will be Ruth from CRAFT SCHOOL OZ and this lovely lady has so much passion, knowledge, and talent to share. She’s traveled to some amazing places to learn her craft from women weavers in South East Asia and Arnhem Land. With her guidance, you’ll create your own unique, textured basket and take great pleasure in making something useful and beautiful with your own hands.
