We are all for tradition here at our studio, especially when it comes to crafting. Explore with lady of the creative lands Ruth from CRAFT SCHOOL OZ, the ancient works of slow stitching. This timeless craft has been used across many cultures through many times. From the patchwork of Japanese Boro, to the vibrant layers of Indian Kantha quilts, each recycled patch, every formed stitch capturing memories and stories of a lineage. Ruth draws her inspiration from these traditions to give a modern twist on her beautiful works.
During this workshop you’ll explore the slow hand stitching process, boro style. You’ll be shown how to experiment with texture, stitch and subtle colours to create new old-look textile pieces – an art piece, stitch journal, small bag or bringing life back into a long forgotten item of clothing.
Materials and needles supplied and you’re welcome to bring some of your own fabric.
