Plain isn't even in our creative vocab around here. Nope. Doesn't even exist to us. Give us any day materials and textiles dyed vibrant stained patterns. Sunflower yellow, magenta, emerald green, burnt terracotta, these are a few of our favourite shades. Watching dyes swirl rainbows in buckets and pots is oh so satisfying.
In this hand dying workshop with Amy Heperi from Bonnie and Dyed, you'll be getting those creative hands messy learning the art of ice and soak dyeing. The best part of the process is getting to your heart's content designs into your chosen cloth and watching a plain piece of art literally materialise. You'll learn how to fold, tie in various designs.
Amy will guide you through the prepping of the fabric, application and the dying process, as well as what materials work best with dyeing. Next decision is are you going to turn your piece into wearable art? Or will your hand dyed creation's new home rest on the wall behind the couch, with your fave cactus standing tall n proud next to it.
She believes there are no limits with hand dyeing, you can dye anything and everything your heart desires. Hmm on that note, lets pow-wow after on what we're going to go on to create after this. We are feeling cushion covers, some bibs for the bestie's bub, ooh and what about a tee for the boyf? Bowing down to the Hand Dye Queen after this!
Feel free to BYO two small items of your own to Dye. (optional)
