Ruth Woods from CRAFT SCHOOLS OZ is a teacher and basket maker from Victoria has had many years exploring this craft while finding new materials to use in her work. She encourages people to experiment and explore colours and texture. You will learn to make cordage that you can incorporate into your basket as well as using a variety of materials such as denim, raffia, recycled fabric and more while developing texture and working with colour. If you fancy you can even keep your coiled piece flat, attach a cute Pom Pom or tassel and create a unique wall hanging.
This is a great way to use up your fabric scraps from your craft stash! again reusing, recycling fabrics and clothes. Connect with this ancient tradition and go home with your new-found treasure keeper.
We will be covering:-
Getting started and making a small basket.
Learning how to construct different shapes using the coiling method.
Incorporating different materials including raffia, wool, fabrics and more.
Ruth encourages the participants of her workshops to experiment using many materials exploring shape and form.
Materials are supplied, including needles and thread.
