There's something therapeutic about basket coiling, getting lost on the woven path of winding fibres. With each twirling piece, you witness your purposeful creation come together.
Ruth from CRAFT SCHOOL OZ will be weaving the way for you to create your own basket coiled vessel. Learn how to make your piece using beautiful hand-dyed raffia. You can design your own using subtle neutral tones or go for something a little more vibrant. These vessels can be used as a vase for your fresh-picked bushwalk finds, or a home for your pencils to live in.
Ruth has a background in textiles and has been teaching basketry for over fives years and travelling up and down the country running various workshops. She has drawn her inspiration from many sources and has learnt the skills from travelling and meeting women who have shared their knowledge globe wide. Being a member and active participant of the Basket Makers of Victoria she has bought together various styles and developed her own designs and methods and is passionate about sharing her knowledge with others.
At the end of this session you'll walk out with your own coiled vase as well as a bit of Ruth's weaving wisdom. Better start fishing all those discarded bottles out of the recycle bin. You're going to have a weaver's dream all lined up on your window sills.
