SEPTEMBER 13TH - SEW A SLIP DRESS

Now that we are seeing the tail end of the chillier months, the bougainvillea is blooming in abundance, you have to pull your mules out of the corner of the wardrobe (yayyy!).. Better start reassessing your Spring wardrobe! What better staple piece to have for these balmy months than a slip dress.. Or few?

Best you start that fabric shopping ladies because  Madeline Rawlings from The Essential Club is coming to the studio to guide you through a step by step DIY guide in making a minimal, elegant slip dress – a wardrobe staple piece that’s easy to dress up or down. You’ll come out the other end with a custom made garment that you can strut down the street and respond to compliments with a hair flick and a casual “Oh this lil number? I made it myself.” Even better, you'll get the pattern to go on creating more, why not make a terracotta linen number, one in a lighter floral number, and cos you're gonna be a full sewing curator after this class, make your sista a dress for her b'day!

This class is totally fine for beginners too! It’s a pretty straight forward process that involves basic sewing knowledge (being able to sew a straight line) and going through it properly once, will then give you the ability and confidence to whip up all the slip dresses you want!

Sewing is such a practical and rewarding activity. Getting lost in the creative and technical process is like a creative's mindfulness meditation, as you become fully consumed by your project and lost in the moment. Then the reward of getting to wear your creation, knowing the time, effort and love that went into is an indescribable feeling.
