LEARN TO SEW WITH YOUR MACHINE
Do you want to learn how to use your own sewing machine and gain the confidence to get started on your original sewing projects?
This 2 week course will teach you how to do the basics with your machine as well as give you an understanding of the functions you didn't know you had, or didn't know you wanted!
In week 1 you will get to know your machine and practice on something simple. You will learn how to wind a bobbin, and thread the upper and lower parts of your machine, getting to know the various dials and their functions. You will complete some practice pieces to cement your skills and knowledge before moving on to constructing a simple raw edge diary cover that will display your new found skills.
In week 2 our teacher Susie, will guide you to make something a bit more challenging and if interested, you can have a go of our overlocker. Options will include a simple childs toy from woven fabric or a small decorative pillow case. We won't be making clothing in these sessions but you will learn some skills so you can go home and create your own handmade originals!
In addition to being a keen sewer for her family, our facilitator Susie has been teaching textiles to high school and university students for years. She is great at helping to simplify what feels like a complicated process so that you can get on with the fun parts of creating your pieces.
Please bring your own sewing machine and your diary or a book in week 1. We will have material for practicing and a small sample of material you can use for your piece, and feel free to bring your own. We do have a very small number of machines in-house that you can borrow if you are keen and don't have your own machine (yet!), so please select BYO or BORROW when making your booking.
Suitable for ages 14+ so grab your sister, daughter, mother or bestie!

Workshop Terms and Conditions
General
We understand that life moves fast and things can change, so we want to be clear about our terms and conditions up front.
Your seat is secured once we receive full payment so check your email address carefully and look out for an automated confirmation email. If you didn't receive a confirmation email after your payment, check your junk mail. Otherwise, contact us at hello@thecraftparlour.com.au.
Please set a reminder and double-check workshop dates and times here through our website. We do not send reminder emails. You have purchased a ticket and we have held this spot for you, purchased materials and turned others away, so we can not issue credits or a refund if you do not attend. Feel free to contact us anytime to clarify session times - hello@thecraftparlour.com.au
If you would like to check out the full terms and conditions, you can find them here.
Credits or Transfers
You can transfer your ticket to another workshop, providing you give us 7 or more days notice. You can only transfer a ticket once. If the new workshop is a higher cost, you will need to pay the difference. If the new workshop is a lesser cost, we will provide a gift card for the difference.
If there is no suitable workshop, you can transfer your ticket to a gift card. The gift card will be for your ticket price, excluding the booking fee and is valid for 12 months.
If you can no longer make a class and it is less than 7 days away, we have already purchased materials and it is too late for us to resell your ticket. We encourage you to send a friend along to take your spot or gift someone your ticket and make their day!
In some cases we may be able to give you the materials to complete the workshop at home. Please email us at hello@thecraftparlour.com.au to check.
Refunds
We cannot provide a refund due to changes in your circumstances or availability.
We will offer you the choice of a refund or gift card of the ticket price, including booking fee, if we cancel a workshop. The refund or gift card will not exceed the purchase price.
Workshop Cancellations
As you would expect, we have class minimums to meet. If we do not meet them and need to cancel a class, we may do so at any time, usually a day or two before the scheduled workshop.
If we cancel or reschedule your workshop for any reason, you will be offered the choice of another workshop, a refund or a gift card to the value of your ticket price, including booking fee.
Photography and Filming
We may wish to photograph or film the workshop and reserve the right to do so for the purposes of promoting future workshops or otherwise. You consent to us (or any other person attending the workshop) photographing or filming you and any persons attending the workshop with you.
Please speak to our artist or host in the studio if you do not wish to be photographed.
